“This painting depicts a competition scene centered on the title Tiger of the Year. The irony is immediately apparent: there is only one actual tiger in the picture. All the other contestants—stripy cats and even a dachshund wearing a striped, tiger-like sweater—are competing for the same title. As viewers, we can’t help but notice the absurdity and humor of it all. What I admire most is the audacity and courage of the little dog, boldly throwing himself into the contest with all his might, tricks, and unwavering belief that he will win. And because of all of that I do believe the dachshund is the winner! Translated to human world, where is the will - there is the way! Another lesson for us, humans, to throw away all doubt and just go for it!
This painting was created in the year of the Tiger, by Chinese astrology. It was the initial inspiration and a play of words for the piece.”
